2012!!!

Hey everyone. For those who have known me for awhile probably know that this blog was something I started about a year or two ago. I just got too busy and didn’t keep up with it as much as I wanted to. Since then I started dental school at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston and just completed my first semester. My motivation to start the blog/site back up was to just give people a glimpse of what life is like as a dental student, possibly give inspiration and guidance to those who are pursuing dentistry as a career, and just sharing my experience with my classmates and possible future colleagues at other dental school. I plan to keep up with it as much as possible even with the busy schedule of a dental student. I hope you guys enjoy it and give me feedback on what you think about it.

For those who want to get a glimpse of the wonderful life of a dental student:

Everyone hates going to the dentist. There is a myth that dentist have the highest suicide rate. Therefore, everyone is probably thinking dental students are crazy. Why would we even chose a profession where our clients are scared of us even before walking into our office?

Hopefully by understanding what dental students go through in order to prepare themselves to take care of all your dental needs, you will trust us in providing you the best care and work with us when you are in the dental chair rather then work against us. Dentistry today isn’t exactly the same as it was fifteen to twenty years ago. There are new innovation and techniques that dentist and researchers have come up with to make the visit to the dentist more comfortable for you. There are also many preventative measures that many just forget to take to avoid the dreadful visit to the dentist.

For those pursuing dentistry as a career:

My classmates, other dental students, and myself have been in your shoes. We know what it is like to be clueless about dentistry(some of us still are.) We hope to help you make the right decision in choosing the career of dentistry. By sharing our experiences, it will give you a clearer understanding of what we do in dental school and if dentistry truly what you want to do for the rest of your life.

All of us have also put in the hard work it takes to get into dental school, so if you have any question regarding the application process, studying for the DAT, or just want motivation to pursue dentistry feel free to email me or leave a comment and I am sure someone will have an answer to it.

For my classmates and other dental students:

We pay to go to school from 8AM-5PM while our friends are working making money. We go home and study while our friends are out partying. What is wrong with us? Just know that in 4 years we will be dentists and working for a cause. We are entering into one of the best career. We don’t just make people smile but we make them proud to smile.

If you have the chance, help out those who have questions about dental school or give input on different topics that are brought up. All of us did different things to get into dental school and we are probably taught different things in dental school, so it’s good knowing everyone’s different opinions on these subjects.
